Floyd County Schools Superintendent Dr. Henry Webb is happy to announce the district results of the BRIGANCE Screen III, the state screener given to all children upon entering Kindergarten. Dr. Webb commented that he and the board are excited that students exiting Preschool and Head State classes are scoring significantly higher than the state on the Kindergarten BRIGANCE. The state average for Kindergarten Readiness for Preschool is 49.5% are ready, while in Floyd County Schools 72.6% are ready. The BRIGANCE is aligned with Kentucky’s School Readiness definition that “each child enter school ready to engage in and benefit from early learning experiences that best promote the child’s success.”
