Kentucky Department for Public Health Warns of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

As temperatures drop, the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning rises. Kentuckians are urged to be aware of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning caused by the improper use of heating or cooking devices. The Kentucky Department for Public Health advises following these steps: don’t use a generator, charcoal grill, camp stove, or other gasoline or charcoal-burning device inside your home or enclosed area; properly vent fireplaces; never start your car in a garage attached to your house, even with the door open; and never use a gas oven to heat your house. If you suspect carbon monoxide poisoning or experience symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
