The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services is reminding families to reduce their stress during the holidays to reduce the risk of child abuse. Adria Johnson, commissioner of the CHFS Department for Community Based Services said frustration in parents can escalate during times of high stress and reminds it is never okay to hit a child. Tips for keeping children safer this season are to clear your head before saying or doing anything, get some space, use punishments selectively, keep calm, talk it out, and stick with your punishments.
