With the winter weather here, the Kentucky State Police caution motorists to be prepared for hazardous driving conditions. KSP reported slippery roads were the contributing factor in nearly 14,000 crashes and 70 fatalities in 2015. Some tips they offer is to make sure drivers plan ahead, checking road and weather conditions before leaving, making sure all passengers are restrained,, vehicle is properly maintained, carry a winter survival kit, and reduce speed. In the event of an emergency, be patient, as weather can increase response time.
