Macy’s to Close 68 Stores in 2017, Two in Kentucky

Macy’s plans to close 68 stores this year in an attempt to cut costs and streamline store portfolios. The closings are part of the 100 closings announced in August 2016. The actions announced Wednesday, January 4, 2017 are estimated to generate annual expense savings of approximately $550 million, enabling the company to invest an additional $250 million in growing the digital business, store-related growth strategies, and other ventures. Among the stores being closed are the locations in Bowling Green, KY and Louisville, KY.
