Harlan County Judge Executive Challenging Unemployment Offices Restructuring

Harlan County Judge Executive Dan Mosley is challenging the state’s recent decision to restructure unemployment offices. It was announced Tuesday that the Office of Employment and Training would be closing 31 of their currently 51 offices across Kentucky, in favor of 12 regional hubs with eight satellite offices. On his Facebook page, Judge-Executive Mosley wrote he was told that centers being closed would be those in over-served areas, with low unemployment rates, where the state had to pay rent. He added that this idea was not implemented in the closing of the Harlan office. Mosley addressed that he would be contacting employees with the Office of Employment and Training and finding out more information on the restructuring while continuing to lobby officials to keep the office in Harlan open.
