The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission proposed elk hunting season modifications during its January 6 special-called meeting. The commission recommends all hunting, fishing, and boating regulations for approval by the General Assembly, which must approve the recommendations before they become law. In order to grow Kentucky’s elk population, the largest in the country east of the Rocky Mountains, the commission moved to compress the hunting season by ending it December 31, moving Cow Firearms Hunt 2 to immediately after Cow Firearms Hunt 1.
