On Saturday, January 21, 2017, Kentucky State Police Richmond Post were called before 3pm about a vehicle spotted in a Madison County creek, resulting in a death investigation. KSP Post 7 and Madison County First Responders responded to Silver Creek and located a dark gray Toyota passenger vehicle partially submerged in water. A male was located inside the vehicle, and pronounced dead by the Madison County Coroner before being removed by first responders. The victim is believed to be 78-year-old Fred Warner, who was last seen in Richmond on December 18, 2016. He was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and positive indentification.
