Fayette Circuit Court Judge Thomas Clark has sided with the University of Kentucky against the student newspaper The Kernel over documents related to a sexual harassment case. The Kernel requested documents from UK regarding a sexual assault investigation, which was denied as the documents would allow the victims to be identified. The documents are exempt under a federal student privacy law. Attorney General Andy Beshear issued a statement on the ruling, saying the decision was made based on the same confidential review of documents that the University of Kentucky officials denied the Attorney General’s office. He said his office will continue its portion of the case to ensure government transparency for all Kentucky families.
