Whitesburg Man Flees From Troopers During Traffic Stop in Letcher County

A Letcher County man fled from Kentucky State Police Troopers during a traffic stop late Friday evening. Troopers Scott Caudill and Michael Burton initiated the stop on a black Jeep Cherokee, due to a suspected vehicle registration violation, on KY 7 in the Isom community. After a brief conversation with the driver, 43-year-old James Freeman of Whitesburg, Freeman fled from Troopers in the Jeep, making contact with Trooper Caudill. Freeman continued to Elk Creek Road, where he stopped his jeep and fled into a wooded area and was not located. Trooper Caudill was taken to Whitesburg ARH for a possible foot injury and discharged. Anyone with information on James Freeman’s whereabouts should contact Kentucky State Police Post 13 at 606-435-6069.
