A Kentucky Man, who operated a marina on Lake Cumberland, has been sentenced to 50 months in federal prison for bank fraud. On February 21, Senior U.S. District Judge Joseph M. Hood sentenced John Guzman, 70, of Shelby County, KY, for nine counts of bank fraud. In addition to his federal prison sentence, Guzman was sentenced to five years of supervised release. Guzman was convicted last year by a jury who found him guilty of defrauding American Founders Bank of over $4,000,000. On applications for nine fraudulent bank loans, he claimed the money would be used to buys boats and homes that did not exist, as well as falsified appraisal documents and insurance policies for nonexistent collateral.
