University of Louisville Releases Information on Sex Trafficking Study

A University of Louisville study on human trafficking found that 40 percent of homeless youth surveyed in Louisville and southern Indiana reported being victims of sex trafficking, mostly in exchange for money or lodging. The study found 70 percent of the sex trafficked youth reported the use of technology in their victimization, with Backpage.com, Facebook and Snapchat the most commonly reported to recruit victims and sell to buyers. The Kentucky Attorney General’s Office has been a leading agency fighting human trafficking, arresting more online child predators in 2016 than any year in the history of the office.
