On Thursday, March 9, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office announced they will be implementing a new program. The program, “Check On A Senior Today,” or C.O.A.S.T., will have members of the sheriff’s department checking on seniors in Floyd County who have no close family. The program is similar to one started by the Rowan County Sheriff, with whom Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt worked to introduce this initiative. Anyone who knows or is a senior who would like to sign up for the program can call the Sheriff’s Office at 886-6171.
