Laurel County Sheriff’s Office Seeking Four Individuals in Forged Check Scheme

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office is seeking four individuals allegedly involved in a forged check scheme that occurred between March 3 and March 7, 2017. Allegedly, David Hosey, 60, Leo Hull, 50, Mitchell Followell, 47, and Benjamin Knight, 22, assumed the identity of a local church forging counterfeit checks and cashing or attempting to cash those checks at a local bank. An employee at 1st National Bank of London intercepted a large check before it was cashed, resulting in an investigation by the sheriff’s office. Over $15,000 was withdrawn by the theft ring.
