Senate Bill 120 Passes KY House, Goes Back to Senate for Concurrence

Senate Bill 120 Passed the Kentucky House on Wednesday March 15 with a vote of 85-9. The bill would provide work opportunities for individuals held back by a past criminal record. Governor Bevin previously said of the bill that a job is one of the best ways for a person to not fall back into recidivism. The bill would also allow occupational licensing boards the freedom to decide whether a prior offense should preclude an individual from obtaining a license. Denials would not be automatic, and a fair appeals process would be established. The bill will go back to the Senate before heading to the governor.
