Breathitt County Man Shot Following Disagreement

On Thursday, March 30, a Jackson man was injured by gunfire after an argument in Breathitt County. Kentucky State Police Troopers, along with EMS, responded to Beattyville Road after receiving a call that a man had been shot during an argument. Officials met a truck transporting the victim, 37-year-old Dwayne Raleigh, for medical assistance while en route. An investigation determined a disagreement between Raleigh and Michael Mitchell, 44, turned physical, with Mitchell producing a firearm and shooting Raleigh. Mitchell was located and interviewed, but an arrest was not made. After conferring with the Breathitt County Attorney’s office, the decision was made to present the case to the Breathitt County Grand Jury.
