Rockfall on KY 1088 in Knott County, One Lane Open

A rockfall at Cordia on KY 1088 in  Knott County occurred later on Saturday, April 1. The rockslide covered both lanes of the roadway. Kentucky Highway District 12 superintendent Bobby Smith said a section of rock cliff gave way, bringing dirt, loose rocks, and trees onto the highway. One lane reopened about 2:45am Sunday, with a temporary traffic signal installed. Work to break up the big rocks and open the other lane will begin April 3, with work possibly continuing until Wednesday, April 5. Motorists are encouraged to drive slowly and cautiously in this area.
