If your child is ready to enroll in Kindergarten and will be 5-years-old on or before October 1, 2017, there will be registration at Floyd County elementary schools on April 17 and 18 from 8:30am to 2pm.  Starting with the 2017-2018 school year, all Kentucky students enrolling in Kindergarten would have to be five years old on or before August 1, 2017. The previous cut-off date was October 1. A change to Policy 8.22 Promotion-Retention, approved by the Floyd County school board, includes an early enrollment option for Kindergarten students, with an evaluation process to determine a child’s readiness for school using a Kindergarten registration screener.
