New KSP Dispatchers Report For Training On Eve Of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

Kentucky State Police Deputy Commissioner Alex Payne welcomed 12 new KSP telecommunicators to the KSP Training Academy in Frankfort on April 3, 2017 to begin six weeks of instruction. Commissioner Payne told the group their job is critical as they are the link between the public and field unites. KSP employs 190 telecommunicators at its 16 posts throughout the state. In 2016, they handled over 550,000 calls. April 9 through 15 is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Weeks, a time set aside to recognize the more than 200,000 unseen heroes throughout the country who often save lives on a daily basis.
