KSP Richmond Post Arrest Man Involved in Jackson County Shooting

On Tuesday, April 4, Kentucky State Police Richmond Post responded to a call referencing a shooting at 9:15pm in northern Jackson County. The initial investigation indicates that an altercation occurred between Eric King, 36 of McKee, and Steven Jones, 39, and George Wayne Maupin, 37, both from Sand Gap. They were both shot, then airlifted to UK Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. As a result of the preliminary investigation, Eric King was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault 1st degree and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon.
