Governor and First Lady Bevin Surprise Derby Poster Contest Finalist at Ashland’s Paul Blazer High School

On Wednesday, April 19, Governor Matt Bevin and First Lady Glenna Bevin visited Ashland’s Paul Blazer High School to surprise one of the First Lady’s Derby Poster Contest finalists, Anistyn Conner. Mrs. Bevin said Conner was unable to attend the luncheon for finalists and wanted to honor her in a special way. Governor Bevin said good art can change a person’s outlook and hopes the contest will inspire young people to use their gifts to help others. Early this year, the First Lady’s Office offered high school students the opportunity to design the 2017 Kentucky Derby poster to be displayed in the Capitol. The deadline for submissions was February 20.
