Floyd County Teacher Recipient of 2018 Valvoline Teacher Achievement Award

The Kentucky Department of Education and Valvoline have selected a Floyd County teacher as a recipient of the 2018 Valvoline Teacher Achievement Awards. Cortney Flannery, a teacher at Betsy Layne high school, is among 24 teachers in the state who qualify to compete for the 2018 Kentucky Teacher of the Year Award, which will be announced in May. The programs have recognized more than 500 teachers and awarded $750,000 since 1988. All 24 teachers will be honored at a ceremony on May 16 at the State Capitol Building in Frankfort.
