Corbin Woman Arrested After Children Attempt to Climb Out Window

Knox County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of two small children climbing out a second story window on April 20, at the Spider Creek Apartments in Corbin, around 11:15pm. Deputy Mikey Ashurst observed the children, aged 1 and 2 years old, throwing items outside the window and attempting to climb out. The mother, Jenny Shelton, age 23, had been drinking and went to bed earlier that evening. A third child was asleep inside the apartment. She was charged with three counts each of wanton endangerment and endangering the welfare of a minor. The children were released to a family member.
