KSP Charges Fayette County Man With Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses

On April 26, at approximately 8pm, the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by KSP Post 12 Frankfort, arrested Timothy Poynter II, 32, for prohibited use of Electronic communication system to procure a minor/police officer for sex and possession of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor. Poynter was arrested as the result of an undercover internet crimes against Children investigation, after he was observed online seeking someone young. Poynter traveled to a Lexington hotel with plans to engage in illicit sexual contact with a minor. He was arrested and charged with one count of using an electronic communication system to procure a minor/police officer for sex and five counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, each punishable by up to five years in prison.
