Mayor of Pound, Virginia, George Dean, was reported by The Coalfield Progress as saying Kentucky is paying for their new police cruiser. This brought up the issue that Pound Police were unfairly targeting Kentucky drivers in the area. The Pound Police Department released a statement saying their practice is not to target any driver or any particular geographical region. The statement said they are currently collaborating with Kentucky to bring recreational tourism to the region. In regard to issuing speeding tickets, the police said their policy is to not issue a citation unless a driver is dangerously exceeding the speed limit. No one at Pound City Hall could be reached for comment.
