Floyd County students competed at the Student Leadership Technology Program state competition on Wednesday, April 12 at Rupp Arena in Lexington. An estimated 14,000 students from across the state attended, competing with technology in various science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematic fields. Floyd County was represented by eleven schools at the event. Allen Elementary, John M. Stumbo Elementary, and Osborne Elementary were named Best in Group Projects. Live Performance Champions include Austin Tuttle placing 2nd in Certipalooza Power Point, and Kiara Warrens placing 2nd in Photo on Demand, both of Allen Central High School. Todd Prater of Duff Elementary placed 1st in Storytelling for kindergarten through fifth grades, and Caroline Johnson of Allen Central Middle placed 2nd in Storytelling for grades 5 through 8.
