Attorney General Beshear Taking Action Against Several KY Fitness Centers

Attorney General Andy Beshear announced Wednesday that his office is holding several fitness centers in Kentucky accountable for failing to file an annual registration statement with the Office of the Attorney General, which is required by law. A bond must also be posted if they charge initiation or pre-paid membership fees. Beshear said the requirement for fitness centers to register with his office is critical to ensure that they do not just collect money for long-term memberships and then close shop. Beshear’s office has currently taken action against fitness centers in Frankfort, Hodgenville, Louisville, and Versailles, with at least five more expected before July 1.
