Three Injured Following Accident on US 23

On Wednesday, May 10, the Prestonsburg Police Department received several calls of a two vehicle collision on US 23 near Mann Toyota. Kent Price, 45 of Morehead, was traveling south on US 23 when his vehicle ran off the roadway, struck a culvert, and went airborne. Price’s vehicle, after being airborne, struck a tractor trailer driven by George Ballard, 53, of Louisville, in the driver side. Price and his passenger, 16 year old Elizabeth Price, were listed in critical condition, while Ballard had minor injuries. Passengers in both vehicles were wearing their seatbelts. A car accident shut down all four lanes of US 23 near Mann Toyota on Wednesday, May 10. The crash occurred shortly before 11am and the area was closed to traffic for almost three hours while emergency personnel were on the scene. A semi truck was reportedly hit a minivan while exiting Mann Toyota. Two passengers inside the minivan had to be extracted by firefighters. The two are listed in critical condition at Pikeville Medical Center. The driver of the semi was treated for injuries at Highlands Regional Medical Center. The road was reopened to traffic around 1:30pm.
