$575,000 to Go to State’s General Fund Following Johnson & Johnson Settlement

Attorney General Andy Beshear announced Wednesday, that his office will provide more than $575,000 to the state’s General Fund after settling with a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary over allegations it unlawfully promoted its over-the-counter drugs from 2009-2011 as complying with manufacturing safety standards. Drugs, including Tylenol, Motrin, Pepcid, and Zyrtec, manufactured and distributed by McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division promoted their drugs as complying with FDA guidelines. The company’s lapses in quality control lead to several recalls during 2009 to 2011.
