Kentucky State Police is reminding parents not to leave children alone in hot cars as temperatures rise this week. KSP spokesman Lt. Michael Webb advised that the interior of a car heats up very quickly and temperatures inside can reach 125 degrees in minutes, with a child’s body temperature rising three to five times faster than an adult’s. Safety tips for parents include never leaving a child unattended in a car, even with the windows down, and place purses or briefcases in the backseat as a reminded that you have a child in the car. Citizens are asked to keep an eye on children left in vehicles on hot days and to call 911 if the occupant is in danger.
