On Monday, September 4, 2017, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Kentucky State Police, utilizing members of the Kentucky State Police Marijuana Eradication Branch, Drug Enforcement/Special Investigation East Branch (DESI), and Post 8 Troopers, located eleven (11) large, mature marijuana plants being cultivated next to a residence on Open Fork Road, near the Elliottville Community in Rowan County. In addition to the marijuana plants, Troopers seized several long guns and pistols, as well as a 2007 Ford truck. Patrick Whitt, age 53 of Morehead, Kentucky was arrested at the scene and charged with Cultivation of Marijuana over 5 plants and Possession of Marijuana. He was lodged in the Rowan County Detention Center.
