Motorists using KY 1 in Lawrence County from KY 201 to the Carter County line will face significant traffic delays for the next two weeks, and minor delays through mid-November, according to Highway District 12 engineering technologist Mike Blevins. Replacement of four cross drains from mile point 12.820 to 14.140 will impact traffic for the next two weeks. The drains are underneath the pavement, so blacktop must be cut and removed to install new ones. At the same time, state contractors will be replacing entrance pipes, pulling ditchlines, and widening the shoulder of the road. This will continue into November and have minor impact on traffic. School buses will be accommodated, but other traffic should find alternate routes to avoid delays.
