Kentucky Nurses Deploy to Florida to Aid Hurricane Irma Victims

A nurse “strike team” from Kentucky has been sent to help Hurricane Irma victims in Florida. It’s the first time Kentucky has been asked to send a team of nurses to another state following a disaster. The Kentucky Department for Public Health, along with local, state and federal officials coordinated the deployment to Florida, where they will be for about two weeks. The team of ten nurses and two administrative staff are made up of members from various health departments across the state. Cabinet for Health and Family Services Secretary Vickie Yates Brown Glisson said the deployment validates all of the preparation and training the group has gone through as public health nurses.
