Judith Valade, a professor at Big Sandy Community and Technical College, has been named the 2017 Outstanding Educator by the Kentucky Association for Developmental Education. The award was presented at the KADE conference in Lexington on October 27. This KADE award is given to one who exhibits innovative/creative teaching styles and demonstrates service to developmental education. Her colleague, Professor John Carroll, who nominated her for the award, said her research on “co-requisite” course in developmental education along with the “flipped classroom” has changed the developmental landscape at Big Sandy Community and Technical College.
