Judge Rules on Government Board Reorganization

Franklin Circuit Court Judge Thomas Wingate has made a ruling on the case between Attorney General Andy Beshear and Governor Matt Bevin over the reorganization of government boards. Judge Wingate ruled that Governor Bevin does have the authority to reorganize the boards when legislation is not in session, however he cannot write new laws. Bevin had issued an order creating a new appeals process for disciplinary actions against teachers, which was ruled unconstitutional. Beshear released a statement saying Wednesday’s decision is a victory for teachers and families.
