Kentucky Highway District 12’s tree removal contractor stationed two crews in the district, both of which will work exclusively in D12’s seven counties throughout the winter months. Gary Barker, District 12’s roadside environmental coordinator, said that each maintenance superintendent developed a list of trees that need to be removed along state roadways throughout Lawrence, Johnson, Martin, Floyd, Knott, Pike, and Letcher counties. The list includes trees reported by citizens. One crew will begin in the Shelby Valley area of Pike County and the other is starting in Knott County.
