An inmate escaped and was later apprehended on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 29, 2017. Magoffin County Jailer Brian Montgomery was transporting three men to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.  One of the men being transported, Jeremy Arnett, claimed he was becoming sick of his stomach and needed to vomit. The vehicle was stopped near Mick’s Auto Sales on US 460 and Arnett attacked Montgomery before fleeing into the hills. Johnson County Deputies arrived at the scene to assist with the search. Arnett was apprehended later that evening in Magoffin County and transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
