On Sunday, December 3, 2017, a K-9 with the Bell County Sheriff’s Department was killed in the line of duty. Bell County K-9 Officer James Taulbee and his K-9 partner Kane were assisting another agency and county on a search. It was during his search that Kane was hit and killed by a car. Bell County Sheriff Mitch Williams said the department is devastated and that Officer Kane played a vital role in serving the community.
