Recycle Natural Christmas Trees for Fish Habitats

With Christmas over, it’s time to take down your tree. Instead of throwing out your natural tree, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources can recycle it into fish habitats. The trees are used by the department to create fish attractors for lakes all over the state as brush reefs. If you would like to recycle your natural tree, clear it of artificial decorations, lights, tinsel, and ornaments and drop it off at a participating location. Local drop off locations include the Eastern District Fisheries Office at 2744 Lake Road in Prestonsburg, Fishtrap Lake in Pike County, and Yatesville Lake Fishing Jetty in Lawrence County.
