The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office made a drug arrest following a traffic stop on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Upon making contact with vehicle in the Loyall area, the operator gave deputies a false name and birthdate. Through further investigation, it was determined the operator was Lawrence Lucas and methamphetamine was located in the vehicle. At the Harlan County Detention Center, Lucas was observed attempting to discard a bag of meth by kicking it under a vehicle. An x-ray revealed eight prescription controlled substances concealed on his person. In addition to multiple drug charges, Lawrence Lucas, 35, was wanted on a Tennessee warrant for a parole violation.
