Governor Matt Bevin has appointed Gene Smallwood Jr, of Whitesburg, as Judge of the Court of Appeals for Kentucky’s 7^th Appellate District, Division 2. Smallwood is the surviving partner of the law firm of Polly & Smallwood, where he has practiced for 40 years. Smallwood said he appreciates the appointment from the governor and pledged to serve with integrity, fairness, and compassion. Smallwood will serve until the position is filled is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election.
