Pavement Repairs on KY 1499 in Pike County Could Take Several Weeks

The contractor making repairs to the pavement collapse on KY 1499 between Feds Creek and Nigh Bridge in Pike County says the work could take up to a month due to utility issues in the work zone. Both lanes and the shoulder collapsed after prolonged rainfall in February. Rusty Justice, president of contractor Jigsaw, said the decision was made to work around the utility issues, as relocating the various utility lines would add months to the project. Sara George, Information Officer at Highway District 12, said the detour is long and time-consuming, and that they understand the importance of a quick roadway fix, but to permanently fix the highway to make it safe for all traffic may take several weeks.
