Knox County Man Arrested Following Pursuit

Around 1am Friday, March 9, 2018, Knox County Deputy Mikey Ashurst received a 911 call that a man, identified as 51-year-old Gary Patterson, was attempting to kick in a door at a residence on Moore Hill Road in Corbin and had left going toward Barbourville in a white Kia. Deputy Ashurst observed the vehicle traveling south on US 25E. Patterson was pursued onto an abandoned strip mining site, crashing through three metal gates and ending up in a pasture field, where his vehicle became stuck in the mud. He was pursued on foot and was arrested after a brief struggle. Patterson was charged with attempted murder of a police officer, evading police, speeding, reckless driving and numerous other charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
