Covington Man Arrested on Drug Charges in Laurel County

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Officer made a drug arrest on Sunday, April 8, 2018. The arrest occurred around 8:40am on I-75, after Deputy Bryon Lawson conducted an investigation of a gold colored Ford Taurus that was stopped along the roadway had the rear of the vehicle protruding into the left hand lane of the interstate. The driver, identified as 40-year-old Ronnie Jones, of Covington, was found to have an expired driver’s license and no insurance. He was determined to be under the influence and admitted to smoking methamphetamine and marijuana. While being booked, Jones was found to be in possession of several baggies of crystal meth and one of marijuana. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
