On Sunday, May 20, 2018, around 7pm, Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office were to dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of Ballard Rd, near South Charleston, WV, in response to a domestic violence incident. When deputies arrived, they located the victim, identified as 45-year-old James Belcher, lying on the ground behind the residence. He was unresponsive and bleeding. Paramedics later determined the victim was dead and had a stab wound near his neck. The victim’s wife and 911 caller, 34-year-old Amanda Belcher, was located at the residence and said she stabbed him in the neck with a butcher knife during a verbal argument. She was charged with murder and lodged in the South Central Regional Jail.
