Family Argument Results in Shooting in Letcher County

An argument between two men escalated to gunfire at a home in Letcher County on Friday, May 18, 2018. Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard were called to a residence on Square Dance Road in the Carcassone community in response to reports of a man being shot during an altercation. Preliminary investigation determined that 44-year-old Adam Henrikson of Blackey and his uncle, 57-year-old Robert Fugate of Carcassone, had several verbal disagreements over the past two days. Henrikson was allegedly attempting to gain entry into Fugate’s residence through the front door when Fugate fire a gunshot in the direction of the door, striking Henrikson in the legs. Henrikson was transported to Whitesburg ARH and transferred to Pikeville Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No charges have been filed at this time, but the incident remains under investigation.
