Seema Sacheva, MD, FAAP, vice chair of the division of Pediatrics at the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, has been named the 2018 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Childhood Immunization Champion by the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. The honor recognizes Sachdeva’s contributions to public health through her work in childhood immunization. Sachdeva’s pediatric practice in Pikeville began following CDC immunization guidelines before vaccines were mandated in the Commonwealth. Her practices maintain immunization rates above 95 percent.
