Scott Presents at Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative Conference

Representing her role as a mentor in STEM education at the East Kentucky Science Center, Staff Instructor Susan Scott  presented at the Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative 11th annual conference at the University of Kentucky on June 21, 2018. Scott spoke on the importance of engaging children in meaningful science programs through fun and enriching experiments. Scott said they are the front lines of STEM education at the science center, and their job is to give visitors a “wow” experience. For the past four years, the East Kentucky Science Center has received mini-grants from the Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative to help fund the purchase of equipment for STEM programs taught at the EKSC. The Kentucky Girls Stem Collaborative awards mini-grants to girl-serving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics focused programs to support collaboration, address gaps and overlaps in service, and share exemplary practices.
