Updated: Kentucky State Police Conducting Death Investigation in Pike County

Update: The Kentucky State Police Post 9 Pikeville have updated information on a death investigation in Pike County. On Saturday, February 9, 2019, 44-year-old Michelle Smith was found deceased outside her home in the Johns Creek area. According to an autopsy, the cause of death is consistent with blunt force trauma of being struck by a vehicle. Evidence collected at the scene also suggests the event started as a burglary or robbery inside the residence. The investigation is ongoing.

Original Story: Kentucky State Police Post 9 Pikeville are investigating a body found at a residence in the Johns Creek area of Pike County. Just after 9:30am, Saturday, February 9, 2019, Post 9 received a call, which indicated a person was found lying outside a residence in the driveway. Upon arrival of Troopers and EMS, it was determined the individual, identified as 44-year-old Michelle Smith of Johns Creek, was deceased. Preliminary investigation determined there was a possible robbery with an assault possibly involving a motor vehicle. An autopsy has been scheduled.
