The Ashland Police Department made an arrest in a stabbing incident that occurred on Saturday, February 9, 2019. The incident occurred in the early morning hours at an apartment in the 1600 block of Beech Street where a resident reported they were stabbing following an argument with a neighbor. The victim was treated at King’s Daughters Medical Center and in stable condition. The suspect, identified as 57-year-old William Cooper, was located and barricaded himself in an apartment. Following a 4 hour standoff, officers made entry and arrested the suspect. Cooper was charged with assault and burglary. He was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center.
